Written by HFM News on 16th January 2020
Four men been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Wigston.
Howard Staff, who was 66, died after being assaulted during a burglary at his home in Gibson Close, Wigston on Monday afternoon.
Detectives are questioning two men aged 20, a 21 year old and one aged 19 after they were arrested at an address in Leicester last night.
Mr Staff suffered a number of chest injuries and died in hospital.
Detectives are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw a black Volkswagen Passat or silver Kia Sorrento being driven in Wigston on Monday.
Detective Inspector Jonathan Blockley from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is leading the investigation. He said: “While we have arrested four people this evening, our investigation is very much ongoing.
“One of our lines of enquiry surrounds the movement of a black Volkswagen Passat and a silver Kia Sorrento. I would, therefore, like to speak to anyone who saw either of these vehicles in Wigston on Monday. If you have dashcam footage from your own vehicle, please get in touch.
“This was a crime committed for monetary gain and, sadly, has led to a man losing his life.
“We owe it to Mr Staff’s family to find the person or people responsible and I would ask anyone who believes they have information, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, to contact police.”
