Decision On New Bin Charges Delayed

Controversial plans to charge people moving into new homes across Harborough for wheelie bins have been put on hold.

Harborough Council’s cabinet has voted to defer the decision until next month, to allow for further consideration of it .

If approved residents will pay up to £94 for the delivery of general waste and recycling bins.

There would be an additional charge if they wanted to subscribe to the green garden waste bin collection service.

The move is being considered to save cash, as the Council currently spends over £160,000 a year dropping off new bins.
