A man caught smuggling heroin into Gartree Prison is now behind bars himself.

James Casey was caught by guards handing over a package of the Class A drug to his nephew, while visiting him in November last year.

Leicester Crown Court heard it had a street value of just over £2,000, but in prison it was worth ten times that amount – nearer £24,000.

Casey, 37, from Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to conveying drugs into a prison.
