Ambulance Cover To Be Increased

Written by on 23rd September 2019

AmbulanceAmbulance cover in Market Harborough is to be increased from next month.

Additional vehicles will be available during the day and into early evening, based at the Police Station, where East Midlands Ambulance Service is now sharing space.

It means the service will have to rely less on ambulances being drafted in from other areas to respond to 999 calls.

Emas says the move – which will see local cover doubled for 16 hours per day – is part of its increase in front-line services across Leicestershire.

A spokesperson told Hfm: “We are really pleased with how the move into Market Harborough Police Station has gone. The move will enable both EMAS and Leicestershire Police to work closely together and provide an even more effective and efficient service to the community of Market Harborough and Leicestershire.

“Following the move, we are increasing cover at Market Harborough to include an additional day and late ambulance, as part of our increase to our frontline establishment in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.”
