Free Parking Time Could Be Extended

People could soon be able to park for free in Market Harborough town centre for longer.
The time limits in some of the on-street bays will increase from 40 minutes to one hour if the plan by Leicestershire County Council goes ahead.

Signs have gone up by the bays
It’s part of a shake-up aimed at meeting public demand for on-street parking, with a three-week consultation into the plans underway.
A Leicestershire County Council spokesperson said: “We are not looking to introduce on street parking charges, but we will be launching a three-week public consultation on a number of schemes designed to encourage sensible and safe parking to keep traffic moving, make the road network safer and to meet public demand for on-street parking across the county.
“These schemes include reviewing single yellow lines for their appropriateness, bus stop clearways and the length of stay and hours of operation at limited wait bays.”
