Campaigners React To Magna Park Decision

Campainers say they are ‘bitterly disappointed’ after a massive extension to Magna Park near Lutterworth was given the go-ahead
IDI Gazeley, who own the business park, has been granted permission for the expansion by a government planning inspector, who has overturned Harborough Council’s decision to refuse it.
He’s ruled the benefits of the development – in particular the creation of over 4,000 jobs – outweighs the impact of it – including the effect on the countryside.
Campaigners fought hard against the expansion – a spokesman for the Magna Park Is Big Enough campaign said: “It’s sad when greed trumps the views and the health of thousands of local people who live and work in and around Lutterworth.
“Maybe, one day, we might have more politicians who will listen and sincerely defend the interests of their electorate; whom they are supposed to represent.
“Thanks go to the thousands of local people who took the time to write and object to these monstrous plans and to those who campaigned so vigorously over the past four years against the massive expansion of Magna Park.”
