Headteacher Handed Redundancy Notice
Written by HFM News on 5th April 2019
Parents and carers fighting to save a popular headteacher from redundancy have pledged to continue to their campaign.
It comes after Edy O’Connor, who is in charge of Swinford C of E Primary School near Lutterworth, for several years, was handed his redundancy notice earlier this week.

Several protests have taken place
The Save Our Head Group is now contacting the Regional Schools Commissioner to express its lack of confidence in the Diocese of Leicester Academies Trust and its board, and their wish for a different trust to take over.
The Trust is removing the post and introducing an executive head teacher role to run two schools in the area for financial reasons.
Donna Moulds, CEO, said: “As a trust we are fully committed to supporting our small rural primary schools in helping children flourish despite the extremely challenging times which schools currently face, whether in a multi-academy trust or not.
“All small schools are having to make difficult decisions to ensure they are sustainable, as set out in the recent report by the DfE (Department of Education) ‘Running Rural Primary Schools Efficiently’ and our highest priority is working to help all our small schools stay open and continue to be at the heart of the communities they serve.”
