An army of volunteers will ensure children’s football games and training can continue as normal this weekend after major damage was caused to football pitches at the Symington’s Recreation Ground in Market Harborough

A large section of grass has been left badly churned up after two cars drove onto the area and started driving around at speed on Sunday night.

Officials at Borough Alliance Football Club, who are based at the site, have branded it ‘mindless vandalism’ and have rallied round to get a group of volunteers together to work on the pitch, so it is playable on safely at the weekend.

They have also received support from Harborough Hire Centre & Jewsons, who are providing equipment & materials to assist them.

The area will also be re-seeded.
