Knife Amnesty Launched

A knife amnesty is being held this week as Harborough Police support a national scheme aimed at reducing knife-crime, called Operation Sceptre.

People can surrender knives and other weapons into a special container at Market Harborough Police Station, with no questions asked.

Officers will also be using a ‘knife-arch’ at undisclosed locations in a bid to detect people carrying blades and supporting talks about the impact of knife crime at local schools.

There have been three stabbings in Market Harborough in the past year – at premises at North Bank-off Coventry Road, Edwin Court on Kettering Road and Welland Park Road. A number of knives and other weapons have been seized by officers.
