Villagers ‘Trapped’ By Roadworks

Villagers in Great Bowden say they feel ‘under-siege’ from roadworks, as from Monday there will be restrictions on all roads in and out of the village.
Temporary traffic lights are in-force on Leicester Lane and Great Bowden Road for several more weeks, and Dingley Road is to be completely closed to traffic for 14 days from next week.
The work on the railway bridge on Great Bowden Road was due to be completed this weekend, but is facing a major delay, with drivers to be impacted for another seven weeks.
Network Rail isn’t revealing why the work is so far behind – only saying they need to revise a way of working on the site.
The work to modify the bridge as part of the Line Speed Improvement Project is now expected to be completed by April 28th.
Network Rail Project Sponsor, Angela Berrisford said: “We apologise to motorists for the delay in removing the traffic management and thank them for their patience whilst we undertake this vital upgrade to the road bridge.”
The road has been completely closed on Saturday nights– it’s not yet been confirmed if that will continue.
