Over £8,000 Raised At SwiMarathon!

Swimmers raised thousands of pounds over the weekend at the Market Harborough SwiMarathon.

The event at the Leisure Centre, hosted by Hfm, saw teams from groups, clubs and schools, swim in relay for 50 minutes non-stop.
A team from Market Harborough Swimming Club, set a new record by covering an amazing 187 lengths – 3.74 lengths per minute – beating the previous record of 185 lengths.
President Carole Baldam spoke to Hfm’s Nick Shaw at the end of the event:
In total, 39 teams comprising over 190 swimmers, swam 3,918 lengths which is nearly 100 km.
Their efforts have so far raised over £8,000 in sponsorship, with more than 30 local, business sponsors also supporting with donations.
It was the ninth year the fundraiser, organised by the Rotary Club of Market Harborough, took place – more than £55,000 has been given away to local good causes during that time.
