A new high-tech monitoring station has been installed alongside the A6 in Kibworth in an area where pollution levels are dangerously high.
It will enable Harborough Council to obtain more accurate real-time data of carbon monoxide levels, caused by vehicle fumes, which are consistently breaching health guidelines on a stretch of Leicester Road.

Cllr Phil King from Harborough Council, and Cllr Philip Bothwell, Cllr John Tillotson, Cllr Vijay Chavda and Cllr Kevin Feltham from Kibworth Harcourt Parish Council with the new air quality monitor
An average of 24,000 thousand vehicles a day travel between the Wistow Road roundabout and Church Road junction – which was declared an Air Quality Management Area last year.
The Council has drawn up an action plan in a bid to deal with the issue, that includes potential junction, improvements to reduce the time vehicles are at a standstill.
