Hope Post Office Can Be Saved

The Post Office is in talks with a number of people who have expressed interest in running a branch in Market Harborough town centre.
It comes after the firm revealed earlier this month the current facility inside the GT news shop in St Mary’s Place is set to shut in April, as the sub-postmaster is resigning.

The Post Office is searching for a retailer who could accommodate the branch in their premises and is hoping those interested will submit business plans so their suitability can be assessed.
A spokesperson told Hfm: “We have received a number of expressions of interest in running a town centre branch of the post office and our field team is in discussion with those who have registered interest to talk about what is involved with running a Post Office and the space required.
“The next stage would be for retailers to submit a business plan for us to assess their suitability.”
