Network Rail has issued a warning after a drone was spotted flying near the railway in Great Bowden.

There have been a number of sightings of one in the air above the Recreation Ground, off Station Road, in recent days, which borders the Midland Mainline.

It’s illegal for drones to be flown within 150 metres of the railway in a built-up area for safety reasons and anyone who witnesses it happening is being urged to call Police.

A Network Rail spokesperson told Hfm: “It is not only incredibly dangerous but you could be taken to court and face a penalty of up to £2,500.

If you witness what you believe to be a dangerous use of a drone please call 101 stating the location and time and any evidence you can gain of the offence.”
