A sandwich designed by youngsters at Great Bowden Academy is on sale at Weltons Deli in the village.
The shop’s owners judged the chicken and feta combo with lettuce, tomato and pickled veg as the best entry into a competition, describing it as ‘incredibly tasty’.
Year 3 and 4 pupils designed sandwiches as part of a Design and Technology project, after being tasked to research, design and make it, using ingredients from Weltons.

The winning sandwich
Jon Farrell from Weltons said: “Students created sandwich designs with all sorts of wonderful (mostly delicious!) ingredient combinations.
“A huge round of applause to Group 9, the winning team, who designed this incredibly tasty sandwich with whipped feta cheese, pickled veg, chicken, heritage tomatoes and cos lettuce.
“Thanks again to all at Great Bowden Academy – we had lots of fun with this!”
Mrs Blagburn, Head of School says, “It’s great to have links with businesses in our local community and we are very grateful that Weltons have agreed to make this exciting opportunity possible; having meaningful links with learning is so important for children.
“Congratulations to the winning pupils, we can’t wait to see their winning sandwich on the Weltons menu!”
