Weather Warning For Strong Winds

A weather warning for strong winds has been issued for the HFM region as Storm Eowyn prepares to hit the UK tomorrow.

Gusts in excess of 50mph are forecast for Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, with the ‘yellow’ alert to be in force from 5am until 3pm.

Heavy rain is forecast during the early hours of tomorrow, but is set to stop by 8am.

The Met Office says the major change in the weather will be caused by a powerful jet stream pushing low pressure across the Atlantic towards the UK after the recent cold spell over North America.

It has advised people to secure loose items outside homes.
