Village Pub To Close

A village pub that was saved by residents will close this Sunday due to falling trade.

Landlord of The George in Ashley, Chris Hand, says it’s with a heavy heart he’s made the difficult decision to shut the pub and adjoining bed and breakfast accommodation.
He blames challenging market conditions and rising overheads, conceding he can no longer use his own finances to prop-up the business.
Chris took over the pub in 2016, after it stood empty for two years, following a battle by villagers to stop it being turned into a house.
He is thanking all customers who have supported him during his time in charge.
The owners of the pub will now try to re-let it to a new landlord.
