Vets Win Battle To Build New Surgery Near Market Harborough

A veterinary practice has won a battle to build a new base on the outskirts of Market Harborough.
A government planning inspector has granted planning permission for the surgery on land off the B6047, overruling a decision by Harborough District Council.

The matter was reviewed after agents for Rutland Veterinary Practice lodged an appeal, when the plan was refused last year over concerns about highway safety.
The inspector has ruled there is not enough evidence to support that, meaning the new surgery can be built off Melton Road, near the garden centre where the vets currently have a small base.
Another revised planning application for the same site was also refused permission, as was another plan to turn a detached house on the garden centre site into a surgery.
Rutland Veterinary Practice has welcomed the decision and is currently reviewing it.
