Train Drivers Announced New Strike Date

Written by on 20th March 2024

Train drivers at East Midlands Railway are to strike again in their long-running dispute over pay and conditions.

Members of the ASLEF Union will take action on Friday April 5th as part of rolling one-day walk-outs at 16 rail companies nationwide.

The union’s General Secretary Mick Whelan said: “Our members voted overwhelmingly – yet again – for strike action.

“Those votes show – yet again – a clear rejection by train drivers of the ridiculous offer put to us in April last year by the Rail Delivery Group which knew that offer would be rejected because a land grab for all the terms & conditions we have negotiated over the years would never be accepted by our members.”

EMR has yet to say what the impact on services will be, although it has been unable to run any trains at all on previous strike days.
