Traders Invited To Meeting Ahead Of Showground Event

A meeting will take place to give businesses more details about a Christian festival returning to Market Harborough Showground for a second year this summer.

The seven-day Light and Life Church Convention is set to attract thousands of members of the Gipsy and Traveller community, when it takes place from Saturday July 20th to Friday July 26th.

Authorities were criticised for not announcing details of last year’s event in advance, leaving traders with little time to plan for extra visitors in the area and some closing.

Harborough District Council has organised the meeting, which will held from 5.30pm on Thursday June 6th at the Symington Building, with one proprietor per business invited.

Representatives from event organisers, the Showground, Leicestershire County Council, Police and Fire Service have also been invited to the meeting, which will take place after Harborough MP Neil O’Brien met with business representatives earlier this month about the festival.
