Teenagers reported starting fires in field near Market Harborough

A warning has been issued after a series of fires were started in a field between Market Harborough and Lubenham.
Firefighters were called to Harborough Road yesterday evening after a group of teenage boys were reportedly seen starting fires in the area.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said crews found numerous sites where bonfires had been lit on arrival.
The fires and smouldering areas were quickly extinguished and made safe before they could spread.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is urging people not to start unnecessary fires, warning that the current dry conditions mean flames can quickly grow out of control.
The service says fires can pose a serious risk to people, property and wildlife, and is asking residents to share the message with friends and family to help prevent further incidents.
Police were also alerted to the incident and a spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “A report was received at 7.10pm yesterday of youths acting suspiciously in some fields off Harborough Road in Lubenham.
“There was a suggestion that the teenagers may have been igniting a fire in the field.
“Those responsible were not identified and no reports of damage have been referred to the force.
“The local beat team have been made aware of the incident and will monitor.”
