Teenagers Arrested After ‘Threats’ Made At School

Two teenagers were arrested after an incident in the grounds of Montsaye Academy in Rothwell as students were leaving to go home.

Police say two boys entered the school site on Greening Road at about 3pm yesterday and started making threats, before chasing another boy.

Officers were called and arrested boys aged 13 and 15 in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police told HFM no weapons were found during searches of the two boys taken into custody and both have since been released on bail, pending further enquiries.

No-one was injured in the incident and there will be an additional staff presence at the end of the school day today and buses will collect students on the roundabout, so the gates will remain closed.

A spokesperson for Montsaye Academy said: “2 young males ran onto our site whilst students were exiting at the end of the school day.

“Staff were on duty, as they always are, and they responded swiftly to calmly manage students who were leaving for the day.

“The Police were called to assist, and they praised the school for their swift response and presence to ensure the safety of our students and school community.

“The 2 males have been arrested and are in custody and we have provided statements and CCTV evidence. Despite speculation on social media, there were no confirmed sightings of a knife, and this has been confirmed by the Police.

“There is an additional staff presence at the end of the school day, and the buses will collect students on the roundabout and the gates will remain closed.

“This means that if parents are collecting their children they will not be able to enter the school grounds.”
