Talks Over Urgent Care Centre Concerns

A health campaigner has held discussions with the boss of the local NHS over concerns about people being turned away from the urgent care centre in Market Harborough.
Some have been told they can only be seen after making an appointment – despite the facility at the St Luke’s Hospital being advertised as a ‘walk-in’ facility.
Phil Knowles spoke at length to the Chief Operating Officer of the East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group:
Similar incidences of people turning up and not being seen have also been reported at other Urgent Care Centres in Leicestershire.
A spokesperson for the Commissioning Group said: “We are sorry that some people are experiencing difficulties in accessing the evening and weekend urgent care service at St Luke’s Treatment Centre.
“We are listening to patient feedback and working closely with the provider of the service to tackle the issues raised.
“We encourage people to share their experiences directly with us, so we can look into any issues that have caused them concern.
