Stolen Motorbike Dumped in Scraptoft After 12-Year-Old Injured

Police are appealing for information after a stolen motorbike involved in a crash with a 12-year-old boy was dumped in Scraptoft and set on fire.
The youngster was riding a BMX bike when the collision happened on Saturday afternoon in Maidenwell Avenue, Leicester and the motorbike was found ablaze in Malsbury Avenue, Scraptoft a short time later.
The boy sustained a head injury as well as grazing to his shoulders and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “The motorcyclist involved in the collision is believed to have been riding alongside another motorbike. They left the scene before police arrived in the direction of Hamilton Way.
“From enquiries carried out so far it is believed the motorbike was a silver Honda CBF125 which was reported stolen from Highcross Street, Leicester, a short time before.
“At 3.22pm fire service also confirmed they were attending a report of a motorbike on fire in Malsbury Avenue and upon further examination it is believed to be the one involved in the collision.”
Police are continuing to carrying out enquiries to identify those involved and are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information relating to the incident to come forward.
Anyone travelling in the area is also asked to check their dash cam as they may have captured footage that is useful for the investigation.
Local businesses and residents are also asked to check CCTV.
