St Luke’s Stroke Ward To Shut For Roofing Repairs

Written by on 25th June 2021

A specialist ward for stroke patients at St Luke’s Hospital in Market Harborough is to close for up to three weeks, so major roofing repairs can be carried out.

Additional beds will be provided in the general ward at the Leicester Road site, when work is due to start on July 5th, and at Coalville Community Hospital, where the county’s other stroke ward is located.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust said: “The condition of the roof above St Luke’s Hospital Ward 1 requires significant repair.  St Luke’s Hospital – unlike St Luke’s Treatment Centre on the same site – is a relatively old building.

“We will ensure patients who are currently on the ward do not experience unnecessary disruption to their inpatient stay.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to patients and carers. We are very grateful to our staff who have agreed to work temporarily at other locations while the repairs are carried out.”
