The South Leicestershire Litter Wombles have collected their 100,000th bag of rubbish.
Volunteers began counting the bags at the start of 2020, as they work tirelessly to collect litter across the area.

The 100,000 bags would stretch for 21 miles if placed next to each other.
The group, which launched in 2019 and has around 300 volunteers, was invited to Parliament by Harborough MP Neil O’Brien, to recognise their tireless work.
Co-founder Bob Lee told HFM the milestone was a bittersweet moment:

Following the tour of Parliament, the group had a Q&A session with Mr Obrien, who said: “It was great to welcome the South Leicestershire Litter Wombles to Parliament. They are such an amazing public-spirited group who have a simple aim to improve the local environment. I often see them at work, busying away picking up rubbish and making a difference.
“I wanted to say a proper thank you to them, particularly as they have announced that they have collected their 100,000th bag of rubbish.”
