Shop Thief Jailed After Arrest in Market Harborough

A thief who targeted shops across Market Harborough, Wigston and Leicester has been jailed for 20 weeks.

Simon Chamberlain was arrested after attempting to steal beauty products worth more than £600 from Sainsbury’s on Springfield Street last month.

The 55-year-old, of Pilkington Road in Leicester, pleaded guilty to multiple theft offences at Leicester Magistrates’ Court.

Leicestershire Police said they were grateful to local retailers for their continued support in reporting offences.

A spokesperson added they would encourage any store being targeted to come forward so officers can identify those causing the most harm in the community.
