Self-Defence Course To Help Fund Bleed Kits

Written by on 5th September 2025

A new self-defence course is to be held in Market Harborough to empower people with skills to navigate the rising issue of knife-crime.

It will also focus on first aid and be run by East Midlands Kung Fu based on St Mary’s Road, in partnership with Northamptonshire charity Off The Streets.

A proportion of the course fee will be donated to the charity so it can purchase and install publicly-accessible traumatic bleed kits in the town.

EMKF’s Mike Malloy will lead the course

The EDGE course (Edged Weapons, Desensitise, Guided, Environments and Defence) will be held on Saturday September 13th.

Mike Molloy is EMKF’s Chief Instructor and spoke to HFM:

The cost for the five-and-a-half-hour course is £50, payable upon booking, with 10% being donated to Off The Streets.

The course is suitable for anyone aged 16 and over, with participants aged 14 and over welcome when accompanied by a full-paying adult.
