Security To Be Upgraded At ‘Deathtrap’ Site In Desborough

Written by on 3rd September 2021

Extra measures are to be taken to secure a former factory site in Desborough dubbed a ‘death trap’ by Police.

It follows a multi-agency meeting between Police, the Fire Service, council officials and owner of the former Dunkelman and Son site off Gold Street, amid fears people are risking their lives by entering derelict and dangerous buildings.

Officers from the Kettering and Corby Neighbourhood Policing Team posted this update after the meeting: “To be clear, the Fire Officers agreed that this site poses considerable risk of death, serious injury and disease if entered.

“Unbelievably people are still going in. Still risking their lives. Still damaging and destroying property. Action will taken in the coming days to do even more to secure it.

“Spread the word, it’s a death trap, KEEP OUT!”

New plans to build homes on the site have recently been submitted to North Northamptonshire Council.
