School Launches Appeal For Prom Outfits

Written by on 25th July 2023

A Market Harborough school is appealing for donations of dresses, suits and shoes for annual end-of-year prom events.

Welland Park Academy is hoping to build-up a bank of suitable clothing for students whose families may struggle to afford such items.

Nicki Burgess, the school’s HR Manager and Chair of the Prom committee, came up with the idea and said: “I have noticed the increasing cost of dresses, suits, shoes and accessories over the past couple of years and it does concern me.

“I would hate for a youngster not to be able to go to Prom because the family was struggling financially.

“I want to try and build up a bank of outfits that all youngsters in the area can access.”

Unwanted bridesmaid and evening dresses are needed along with shoes, bags, accessories, as well as men’s suits and ties and shoes.

I is hoped a variety of styles, colours and sizes will be donated.

You can drop donations off at the school or contact Nicki by email – burgessn@wellandparkacademy.com
