School Car Parking Safety Scheme Could Be Extended

Written by on 29th February 2024

A new safety scheme allowing parents to use a car park in Market Harborough to drop their children off for school could be rolled out elsewhere.

Harborough District Council says it will consider approaches from other schools located close to its car parks, which also suffer with parking problems outside their gates.

The authority has agreed the free use of the Commons Car Park for a short time each morning, by people dropping off children attending the near-by St Joseph’s Catholic Academy.

It move is aimed at improving safety and reducing congestion on Coventry Road at the start of the school day.

Permits are set to be issued shortly.
