Scam warning from Market Harborough Police

Harborough Police have issued a warning after scammers tried to trick a pensioner out of thousands of pounds.

The woman in her 80’s received a call asking her to withdraw£35,000 from her bank account to pay for a relative’s medical treatment.

Luckily she told a neighbour in Broughton Astley before doing anything and they in turn contacted Police who attended and confirmed the caller
was bogus.

Officers are reminding people to never hand over money to people who have called them or pass any of their bank details over the phone.
