Rugby Club’s New Floodlights Transform Facilities

Market Harborough Rugby Club is celebrating the switching-on of a new floodlight system costing £250,000.

Extra pitches are now illuminated meaning more training sessions and games can take place after-dark and the state-of-the-art LED lights will also help the club save on energy costs.

The club secured grants from a number of organisations to fund the lights, with the project coming during its 100th anniversary year.

The official switch on was attended by representatives from The Leicestershire Rugby Union, Leicester Tigers, Syston RFC and Harborough Athletic Club .

Market Harborough Rugby Club floodlight project was switched on during Thursday evening with Roger Dunton and Pamela Roberts of the Howard Watson Symington Memorial Charity, Sarah Hill of Market Harborough and Bowden’s Charity, Councillor Simon Whelband, Councillor Julie Simpson, Jenny Balme chairman of the Appeals Committee and Market Harborough Rugby Club member Mike Fletcher.
