Roadworks On A6 In Kibworth Cause Misery For Drivers
Written by HFM News on 12th January 2023
Drivers are questioning why two sets of roadworks on the A6 in Kibworth have been allowed to happen at the same time.
Temporary traffic lights at both locations have been causing long delays, particularly during the morning and evening rush-hour.
National Grid is carrying out electricity works at the entrance to the household waste and recycling centre until next Friday (20th), while Severn Trent Water has been working at the roundabout with Wistow Road.
One driver told HFM: “It is ridiculous and is causing so much disruption to journeys. Surely it would have been better to allow the work in one area to be completed before starting in another.”
A Severn Trent spokesperson told HFM: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by work to install a water hydrant near to the junction of the A6 and Wistow Road.
“Our teams finished the installation today, however to protect our teams and other road users, three way traffic lights will remain in place while the road surface is reinstated.
“We appreciate that this is a busy junction and our priority is to remove the three way lights as soon as possible. Again, we’re sorry for any inconvenienced caused by this work.”
Leicestershire County Council, which grants permits for roadworks, has been approached for comment.
