Residents Invited to View Road Safety Plans

Residents can find out more today about major plans to improve traffic and pedestrian safety in Market Harborough.
Leicestershire County Council is holding a drop-in event at Harborough Market between 11am and 4pm to discuss proposed junction upgrades and new crossing points along Rockingham Road.
The scheme will take place along Rockingham Road
The £2 million scheme is due to start in August and will also see Clarence Street become one-way northbound on a trial basis.
Some residents had argued for the opposite flow, however parked cars and two-way traffic have caused long-standing issues, with vehicles often mounting pavements and reports of damage to cars.
The wider project will also include improvements along Rockingham Road to boost safety for cyclists and pedestrians.
This includes five new side-road priority crossings on raised coloured tables with illuminated studs, at locations including the train station car park entrance, Halfords and PureGym retail park, Riverside, The Furlongs and Ashley Way.
The scheme is expected to run from August 2026 through to March 2027.
