Reprieve For Market Harborough Tip Welcomed

Campaigners who opposed the closure of Market Harborough tip are welcoming the announcement it is set to be saved.
Leicestershire County Council is now proposing to keep the site open, after outcry from residents and confirmation it will get an extra £5m of government funding.
The revised budget proposals means the Recycling and Household Waste on Riverside will stay open, but for one less day a week and the Kibworth tip would also be closed for an extra day.
Harborough MP Neil O’Brien opposed the closure plan and has welcomed the u-turn:

The council will launch another public consultation on the revised proposals later this month, before a final decision is taken.
