Relief For Drivers As Road Re-Opens
Written by HFM News on 28th February 2024
There is good news for drivers after the road linking Great Glen with Fleckney reopened to traffic.
Station Road has been shut for over two months after a van driver collided with a bridge near Wistow, causing major damage to the structure.

Station Road has re-opened
Leicestershire County Council has carried out the repairs and reassured drivers no further works are planned on the road, after a sign indicating another closure next month was erected earlier this week.
The council says this was put up by a contractor in error and it has now been removed.
The re-opening has also been welcomed by traders based at the near-by Wistow Rural Centre, who have complained about a fall in business during the road closure, which happened during the on-going closure of near-by Newton Lane.
Work to replace a rail bridge on Newton Lane remains suspended, while Network Rail agree final highway designs with the county council, meaning the road closure will be extended.
