Reform UK To Give Councils Musk-style Audit

Councils in the HFM region are set to undergo an Elon Musk-style review into their spending.

Reform UK will send specialist teams in to Leicestershire County Council, North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council after taking control of the authorities following last month’s elections.

The party has set up a unit to look into ‘wasteful spending’ inspired by Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) in the United States.

It says a team of software engineers, data analysts and forensic auditors working for free will ‘visit and analyse’ the local authorities, with West Northamptonshire Council set to be the first in the region to come under the spotlight.

A Reform UK party spokesperson said: “The taskforce will identify and eliminate wasteful spending, increasing transparency and ensuring taxpayer money is spent solely on activity that benefits local people.”
