Rare Furniture From Papillon Hall To Be Auctioned

Rare furniture designed by the architect of a long-lost country house is being auctioned in Market Harborough next week.
The large bookcase and a chimney piece were the work of Sir Edin Landseer Lutyens, who extended Papillon Hall on the outskirts of Lubenham in 1903.
The bookcase
It was home to the Us Airborne Division during the Second World War, before being demolished in 1951, when the furniture, that stood in the billiard room, was sold to someone in Glasgow.
The items are set to fetch £6,000 when they go under the hammer at Gildings Auctioneers on Monday.
