Public Meeting Over Campaign To Re-Open Market Harborough-Northampton Rail Link

Campaigners calling for a rail link to be restored between Market Harborough and Northampton are holding a public meeting tomorrow.

The idea of reinstating the tracks between the two towns was first muted four years ago, after the 14-mile route closed in 1981.

Campaigners say any re-build could retain the Brampton Valley Way, which runs along former railway line and is popular for walkers, runners and cyclists.

The English Regional Transport Association say it would open up a new north/south national rail corridor, linking the Midland Mainline with the West Coast main line.

Harborough councillor Peter James has helped organise tomorrow’s meeting, which is taking place at the Methodist Church from 2pm:
