Probe Into Allegation Of Illegal Hunting After Hounds Chase Fox

Police are investigating an allegation of illegal hunting after hounds were seen chasing a fox out of a field and through the middle of a village near Lutterworth.
It happened in Peatling Magna on Saturday afternoon.
The Great Bowden-based Fernie Hunt says a number of its hounds became ‘disorientated’ during rainfall and it took immediate action to retrieve them.
Detective Inspector Charles Edwards said: “As part of our ongoing investigations, we are appealing to anyone with any information who has not yet made contact with us to speak with us.
“Anyone with any CCTV, dashcam or phone footage in relation to the report should also get in touch.”

A spokesperson for the Fernie Hunt said: “While conducting hunting activities within the law on Saturday on farmland within the general vicinity of Peatling Magna, we became aware that some hounds had become disorientated during a torrential cloudburst and got detached from the main group.
“They were safely retrieved immediately.”
