Probe After Rubbish Dumped In A6 Layby

An investigation has been launched after flytipping beside the A6 near Kibworth.

A mound of rubbish, including household and industrial waste, was dumped in a layby near the Debdale Lane junction earlier this week.

Harborough District Council is investigating the incident and its contractors cleared up the mess yesterday.

Cllr Woodiwiss, Cabinet lead for environmental services, said: ““Fly-tipping is unsightly, illegal, and can have a devastating impact on our environment, and both human health and wildlife.

“We remind residents that even if you pay someone else to dispose of your rubbish it is your legal responsibility to make sure they will dispose of it correctly. Residents and businesses should always ask to see a valid waste carrier license and check the registration number is valid on the official register: https://environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/search-waste-carriers-brokers “
