Primary School Awarded £374k For New Classrooms

Written by on 8th December 2021

A dilapidated mobile classroom at Great Bowden Primary School should soon be a thing of the past.

The school has been awarded funding totalling £374,000 for a new modular building, which will house two classrooms.

It says it will help reduce the size of existing classes and create extra space elsewhere.

£126,000 of the funding has come from ‘Section 106’ money, allocated to the school as a result of recent local housing developments, the rest from the Department of Education Condition Improvement Fund.

A planning application for the new building, which will also include toilets, has been lodged with Harborough District Council.

If approved, building work should start around Easter 2022 and be completed during the summer holidays.
