Powers To Tackle Irresponsible Dog Owners & Anti-Social Drinking Set To Be Extended

Powers aimed at tackling anti-social drinking and irresponsible dog owners are set to be extended by Harborough District Council.
The Public Place Protection Orders, which are due to expire shortly, will continue until 2025 if the move is approved next week.
They enable council officials to fine dog owners who fail to clean up after their pets, don’t carry ‘poop bags’ or don’t to put dogs on leads when requested to do so.
The PPO also means Police can seize alcohol from people behaving anti-socially in Market Harborough and Lutterworth town centres and arrest them if they fail to hand it over.
There was overwhelming support for the measures continuing from people who responded to a public consultation.
The Council’s Cabinet will be asked to approve the extension.
