CCTV Catches Thieves Checking Cars

Harborough Police have released CCTV footage of an opportunistic thief trying to open car doors, in a bid to encourage people to make sure they lock their vehicles.

Filmed in Hallaton in the early hours, it shows a man in a hooded top casually walking down the street going from car to car, with an accomplice driving slowly behind.

At one property a security light is triggered but he continues on at the same, slow pace, undaunted.

A Harborough Police spokesman said: “This is genuine footage from a rural village detailing the efforts offenders are taking to commit theft from vehicles.

“We can see these people are opportunistic in their approach so please consider vehicle security when you park up for the night.

“If you witness anything suspicious please ring us.”
