Plea After Fire Engine Blocked By Parked Cars

A fire engine was blocked on Logan Street in a similar incident last year

Firefighters are urging people to consider where they park after they were delayed getting to the scene of a 999 call in Market Harborough yesterday.

A fire engine struggled to get past parked cars in Hearth Street, while en-route to a fire in the kitchen of a flat further along the road at Giffard Court.

Crews say they understand it is particularly difficult for people to park in such narrow streets, but are reminding residents to consider whether a large vehicle like a fire engine would be able to get through.

There are also more cars outside homes at the moment during the day, due to many people working from home and abiding by the government’s lock-down rules.

The fire yesterday lunchtime involved  items that had been left on a hot hob, was quickly dealt with and only minor damage was caused.

The female who lives there was checked over by paramedics after inhaling smoke but wasn’t injured.
