Plans For Renewable Energy Projects Revealed
Written by HFM News on 13th March 2025
Plans have been revealed for two renewable energy projects between Market Harborough and Desborough.
One is for a solar farm and battery energy storage system on land at Eckland Lodge off the A6 bypass and the other is a battery energy storage project in fields near Braybrooke.

How the battery storage facility near Braybrooke would look
Regener8 Power is working on plans for the renewable energy hub at Eckland Lodge, while Aura Power has earmarked land near Harborough Road, adjacent to a large National Grid substation.
It says it project would be capable of powering 400,000 homes.

A statement on the Aura Power Braybooke website reads: “The UK has a legally binding target to reach Net Zero emissions by 2050 as well as completely decarbonising the UK’s power supplies by 2035. In order to do this, we need more energy storage systems to deal with intermittent renewable energy generation.
“Battery storage systems, such as this, play a crucial role in the decarbonisation of our electricity network with much-needed increases in renewable energy sources.
“Batteries store excess energy at times of low demand i.e. from a solar farm on a sunny day, and discharge the energy back into the grid when it is needed the most.”
The companies behind both schemes are hosting exhibitions to give residents living near-by more details.
Aura Power has organised one at Braybrooke Village Hall from 4pm til 7pm today (Thursday) and Regener8 Power will share more details of its plan on Thursday 20th March, from 2.30pm – 6.45pm, again at the Village Hall.
