Plans For New Homes in Market Harborough Rejected Over Flooding Fears

Residents are celebrating after plans to build 85 new homes between two Market Harborough estates were rejected over flooding concerns.
Councillors went against planning officers’ recommendations and refused permission for the development on 30 acres of land between Farndale View and Farndon Fields.
More than 130 objections were submitted, with most raising fears about flooding in the area.

Concerned residents also spoke at Harborough District Council’s planning committee last night, with many in the public gallery showing their opposition.
Councillor Neil Bannister spoke during the meeting when he put forward the proposal to refuse planning permission:
