Plans for £30m SEND School in Husbands Bosworth

Plans have been announced for a new school for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Husbands Bosworth.
Leicestershire County Council plans to invest around £30 million in the project, which would be built on council-owned land on Kilworth Road and could accommodate up to 200 pupils aged 4 to 18.
Councillor Charles Pugsley, cabinet member for children’s, said: “We’re in great need of specialist school places for Leicestershire children and many will know the strain we’re currently under. This is why we want to build a new, purpose-built school in the south of the county, where we’ve identified the most need.”
He added the council is “just at the start of this process”, but has “clear ambitions” to provide more local provision, reduce travel distances for pupils, and make better use of council-owned land.

A public information event will be held at the Millennium Pavilion in Husbands Bosworth on Wednesday 3 June from 3pm to 7pm, before a planning application is submitted to Harborough District Council.
Work is also continuing on a new SEND school in Market Harborough, which is set to open in September.
Aurora Brampton Valley School is being developed on the site of the former Roman Way Community Centre and will cater for more than 70 pupils aged 5 to 19.
The project is being delivered by The Aurora Group, a leading UK provider of education, care, and support for children and young people with SEND.
