Plans Afoot To Mark Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Across Harborough
Written by HFM News on 3rd December 2021
Small grants are to be made available to community groups across Harborough so celebrations can be held for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.
The District Council is also hoping to mark Her Majesty’s 70 year reign with events during the extended bank holiday weekend in June, and is asking residents for suggestions for what they might be.
More details are to be released over the coming months.
Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “We’re busy finalising details on how the Council will support this historic milestone, which will hopefully include opportunities for residents to share their memories during The Queen’s reign.”
Her Majesty The Queen acceded to the throne on 6 February 1952, aged 25 years old.
Throughout 2022, Her Majesty and members of the Royal Family will travel around the country to undertake a variety of engagements to mark this historic occasion culminating with the focal point of the Platinum Jubilee Weekend in June.
